On the New York music scene for more than a decade, jazz singer and songwriter Harmony Keeney has garnered praise from musicians and critics alike. She has appeared at some of the city's top venues, including Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Algonquin's Oak Room, and the world-renowned jazz club, Birdland.
Harmony's expertise in a range of musical styles combined with her years of experience as both a private voice teacher and performer make her a sought-after mentor for singers of all levels. Harmony majored in voice at Appalachian State University, where she studied both classical and jazz under baritone Joseph Amaya and jazz director Todd Wright, earning a bachelors degree in Music Industry Studies. Her teachers have also included jazz vocalist Carter Minor, jazz pianist Ed Paolantonio, and classical voice professor Stafford Wing. Before moving to New York, Harmony spent several years teaching and performing in North Carolina, eventually recording her first album, “This Time It’s Love.”
Harmony's latest singles include a charming update of the Nina Simone classic, “My Baby Just Cares For Me,” as well as originals, “I Was Wrong About You” and “You’ve Got A Lot Of Nerve,” which showcase her songwriting versatility. Produced by Tony DeSare, the recordings and their accompanying videos capture Harmony’s unique combination of sophistication, vulnerability, and joyful swing.
